'Múspell sheimr' is the only correct form of the name. If you do want to use the Elder Futhark, though, there’s really only one way to do it: the Y has no business being in there - it's a completely different sound (front rounded vowel) in proto-Norse and would never be confused with one of the sounds in 'haimiʀ.' As we have absolutely no hard evidence for the Eddic cosmology around the time proto-Norse was in use, moreover, I’d urge you to consider getting them done in the Younger Fuþark – it could well be the Norse simply didn’t conceive of the cosmos in these terms several hundred years earlier.

If I cannot find any evidence of Uruz being used as a short vowel then I will use 'Nið̠avellir' and drop it in 'Jotunheimr', but if it can be used as a short vowel I will use 'Nið̠avolum' and use it 'Jotunheimr.'īesides Asgarð̠r, Mið̠garð̠r and the dwarf world, all other worlds have 'heimr.' I am considering multiple variations including HIYM, HIM and HYIM, 'I' being Isa and 'Y' being Eihwaz. I'm leaning towards omitting it.įor 'Muspellsheimr' I am considering keeping the archaic possessive (denoted by the second 's') as opposed to its common omission (Muspellheimr). I'v only seen Uruz used as a long vowel, and consonant clusters like this appear naturally in Old Norse.
